Nov 07, 2018 Luckily, you can use a variety of controllers on your Mac, including your Xbox One Controller. While the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 will play nicely with your Mac over Bluetooth, the Xbox One controller will take a bit more effort. It’s nothing too tricky, though, and you can pull it off with a bit of patience. You can even pair a PS4 controller to Mac, as well as an Xbox One controller to Mac. Support for PS4 and Xbox One controller Apple recently added support for the popular game controllers, including the Xbox Wireless Controller and Sony’s DualShock 4 controller, in iOS 13, iPadOS, tvOS 13 and macOS Catalina 10.15.
In a perfect world, when you had a lot of games to play, many of you would always want to be able to sit in front of your couch of living room screen and access from there in your comfort zone, but other household members often get in the way. To cast to Xbox one, You can wirelessly stream to another computer when that happens— and it’s easier to do than you might think.
For the sake of simplicity, we’re going to concentrate on the new console versions from Playstation and Microsoft — Nintendo doesn’t allow this kind of downloading and just uploading to smartphones (phones and computers) on the same nearby wifi network.
Getting to your console and games from outside the home is sometimes possible, but for a worse experience, it usually requires extra configuration — and a whole extra guide would be needed on top of that. Here are the ways how to can cast to Xbox one from PC, Mac, and Android as well.
Cast To Xbox One For Windows
We’re going to start with the easiest setup for the cast to Xbox one: Microsoft making both Windows 10 and Xbox, making it relatively easy to stream your Xbox games on the same local network to a Windows 10 PC.
Xbox One And Mac
Your Microsoft account is your base. Make sure that both your Xbox One console (select your gamer image in the top-left of the home screen) and your Windows 10 system (Accounts in Settings) is signed in to the same one and you’re pretty good to go — a ton of heavy lifting is performed for you.
There is one key feature that you need to enable to cast to Xbox one: Under Preferences in the Xbox One Settings section, choose access to the Xbox app and make sure that only the accounts that are signed in to this Xbox are chosen, then tick Enable game streaming to other apps.
With that done, from the Windows 10 Start menu, fire up the Xbox device, press the Link button on the left side, and you should be able to select your console. Select Stream to see it on your PC when it’s paired.
To cast to xbox one, you’ll also need a remote connected to Windows 10 if you’re not seated on a desktop in the same space and the device is still within the Xbox One set. Just plug in an Xbox controller via a USB cable, or attach it as a Bluetooth device. Without additional software, Microsoft supports any process. It’s just like sitting in front of the Xbox One with a controller paired, albeit at a lower resolution and with the odd stutter.
Streaming was fairly lag-free when we checked the system (as discussed below with Sony Remote Play), though not the most stable wifi device we used. Streaming is highly dependent on your internal network power, so it’s best to do anything you can to increase speeds. That means ensuring the Xbox for most users, and the Windows system where necessary, are both on wired Wifi, which appears to be quicker and more reliable than wifi.
Cast To Xbox One For Mac/Ios
It was almost impossible to get the same experience on macOS or iOS until OneCast came along. This third-party app will set you back $12 on iOS and $20 on macOS, although the Mac app offers a free trial to give it a go first.
The configuration for macOS is identical to that for Windows: you need to allow game streaming in Xbox settings, and you need to link an Xbox One controller to your Mac either via USB (OneCast provides the drivers you need) or via Bluetooth.

Once OneCast starts, you will be guided through your Microsoft account sign-in process, which then allows you to select your Xbox One from the local network. Click Connect and the application will allow you to operate your Xbox One as normal.
The iOS mechanism works in the same way: activate the Microsoft account and identify the Xbox One. You can use as an input device the initial controller, a third-party controller, or the on-screen controls of OneCast itself.
Sadly, for the time being, there is no comparable way to download Xbox One games to Android devices. This could improve until Project xCloud gets off the ground — whenever it will be — but for now, you’re out of luck.
What Is Project xcloud?
Project xCloud is the streaming service for Microsoft’s video game, allowing players to quickly access cast to Xbox one and PC games via an internet connection to their device of choice. You’re not going to download the games you’re playing in Project xCloud, similar to the system used by Google Stadia. These will instead be downloaded from Microsoft’s servers, using the Azure Cloud platform introduced in games such as Crackdown 3 and Titanfall. 54 separate Azure regions around the globe should provide customers with reliable service regardless of where they are based.
Word for mac trial version. The xCloud project is not intended to replace traditional digital and disc-based gaming. Instead, Microsoft hopes it will open up console-quality gaming to those who currently lack or can only play on mobile devices with the necessary hardware to do so. It also means players may experience a single Xbox or PC game they are involved in without purchasing a whole machine.
Hi Parallels fans – my name is Megan, and I’m the Social Media Community Manager for Parallels, and I am SUPER excited to talk about streaming Xbox One games to your Mac via Parallels Desktop 12 for Mac! I am a gamer at heart, and as much as I’d like to game on my Mac, Macs are just not yet the ultimate gaming machines (despite our ongoing efforts here at Parallels). So at home, I have a number of rigs and consoles – one of my favorites being the Xbox One. When Microsoft announced that the Xbox Ones were upgrading to Windows 10, AND they were implementing a streaming option on a local network from Xbox One to Windows 10 PC, I was curious, but it didn’t pique my interests. It wasn’t until I found a Parallels user on Reddit talking about streaming to their Mac via a Windows 10 virtual machine that I got really excited!
Streaming from Xbox One to Parallels Desktop 12 for Mac
To get started, you’ll need to adjust your settings in your Xbox One. If you haven’t yet, go into your settings and check that your Xbox One can stream to other devices. (Video below!)
Once your Xbox One is prepared to stream, go to your Mac and start your Windows 10 virtual machine in Parallels Desktop for Mac.
Office 2019 free for mac. When you go to the start menu for Windows 10, Click on the green Xbox One app.
Once in the app click on the bottom left (second from the bottom) icon for devices, and then add your device. Keep in mind, for this to work your Mac and your Xbox One have to both be on the same network. (If you’re lucky, Windows 10 will already have found your Xbox One on the same network. If not, you’ll need to add the IP Address your Xbox One is on.)
You’ll need your Xbox One controller connected to your Mac – so either plug in the micro USB cable to your Mac, or invest in one of the new Xbox One blue tooth controllers! Samsung galaxy usb mac. When your Mac recognizes your Xbox One and that you have a controller connected, you are all good to go!
I think I know what you’re going to ask…
I know the first question is going to be Why would I want to go from my 32″ television thats connected to my Xbox One, to my 15″ MacBook Pro?
Fair question. Let me ask, have you ever wanted to play one of your Xbox One games that’s in the living room, while lying in bed? Do you argue with your roommates about who gets to play the Xbox One of the PS4 on the big TV each night? Have you wanted to play one of your Xbox One games, but it might not be appropriate for the kids to watch while playing in the living room? This streaming option is a great solution to all of these problems!
Xbox One And Mac Computers
It’s obvious that if you’re streaming to a Macbook thats mobile, then you can take your Xbox One games as far as your Wi-Fi will let you. (My personal favorite is lazy weekends when I want to stay in bed and stream to my Mac) The other questions I posed are really more about playing your Xbox One when the TV isn’t going to be available. This is the option that has been a life saver in my house and marriage since we argue over who is gaming at what time. Since the PC gaming rig is connected to the same TV that the Xbox One is, my husband and I have butted heads about who gets to play. But now, try this! Turn on the TV and the Xbox One and then connect to stream to your Windows 10 Virtual Machine via Parallels Desktop for Mac. Then, while keeping the Xbox One powered on, change the input on the TV to (in our case) the PC gaming rig, and now we’re both playing!

I’ve streamed to my Mac puzzle games like Tumblestone (I hope you picked it up when it was free with Xbox Gold – great puzzle game!) as well as high graphic games like Halo 5 and Fallout 4. Here is the fine print you’re going to need to know streaming to your Parallels Desktop for Mac Windows 10 virtual machine: It’s not the virtualization that will slow you down, the real kicker is how fast your network speed it. If you are streaming wirelessly to your Macbook Air, you’re going to find a lot of lag between you and your Xbox. Our recommendation is to hard wire both Xbox One, and your Mac.

I’ve listened to all our customers on twitter, I know gaming is really important to you. (Me too!) I really hope streaming from your Xbox One to your Mac gets you a little more gaming time in your day. Commend below and let me know what you’re playing! Me and a few of the Parallels team here in Seattle are always looking for what new game we should be trying out!
